situp@2xPeople who want a flat stomach and abs think it's a good idea to do sit-ups, bridges, or any other abs exercise. When a client asks me what is the best abs exercise, I often answer:

"But if you want to have ripped abs, why are you wasting your time doing these exercises? "

The truth is that most people already have their abs muscle developed enough to show...

The problem is that there is a layer of body fat that hides the muscle.

The proof is that if you contract your abs and dig your fingers in your belly, you will most likely feel the muscle.

It is true that doing abs exercises can help develop the muscle itself, in the same way that arm exercises will make your arms bigger.

Except that doing abs exercises will not help burn the fat layer that covers the muscle.14,15

Why? To burn fat, you have to burn more calories. And according to Men's Health magazine, it takes 22,000 sit-ups to burn 1 lb (0.4kg) of fat.

Let's say you have 30lb (13kg) of fat to lose, you'll need 660 000 crunches to see your abs appear !
